Foodies Festival – Newcastle

I was recently given the opportunity to visit the Foodies Festival in Exhibition Park, Newcastle. So I rounded up my friends and off we trotted for an afternoon of munching and sipping on all the delicious treats on offer. Having previously been to the one in Oxford last summer, I was vaguely aware of what to expect and safe to say it didn’t disappoint.

Walking through the gates we were welcomed with a live band and the sight of a giant tea-pot full of pimms! Well not literally, but they were serving pimms from it and thats close enough. We started to meander through the stalls and sample all the various treats on offer, alcoholic tea, rum, cheese, fudge, truffle oils and so much more. The selection of products on offer to purchase was excellent there was a huge array and definitely something for everyone. Not only are there stalls selling products there are also a number of food vendors selling street food options to munch on.

My favourite stall by far was the lovely Tim at Flavour Magic, who was selling flavoured rock salt and herb seasonings and rubs. The range of rock salts were absolutely incredible and something that I had never come across before at all. With flavours including rosemary, garlic & lemon, smoked and thai they would transform any dish into something extra ordinary. I was truly sold and walked away with a whole bag full of salts to start experimenting in the kitchen with. Although, I didn’t purchase any the seasoned rubs were also delicious – the perfect accompaniment for a chicken breast on a summer BBQ.

The great thing about Foodies Festival is that within the price of your ticket is the opportunity to visit there drinks or demo tents. The demo tent showcases famous chefs from around the country who do live cooking demonstrations or tutorials throughout the day. The drinks tent is where you can taste test wine, champagne and beer. Some of the chefs at Newcastle included Candice Brown (GGBO 2016 Winner) and Lorna Robertson (Masterchef 2017 Finalist).

The whole atmosphere of the event was superb, with a ‘great British summer’ feel about it. It really is the perfect family fun day out with something for everyone. Check out the website at  for more information about the festivals and the other locations they will be visiting this summer.
