Spicy Tomato Gnocchi

Gnocchi is one of those things that is a game changer when it comes to winter comfort foods. I love a big bowl of steaming gnocchi with a super tasty and bubbling sauce. It doesn’t need to be fancy, in fact when it comes to the best gnocchi dishes I think that the simpler the better. This spicy tomato and roasted red pepper sauce is the perfect balance of rich, sweet tomatoes and fiery chilli. Served with a bit of greenery it is perfect for simple midweek suppers or make a big batch and serve for family and friends for lunch.


Ingredients: Serves 2

  • 500g Gnocchi
  • 1/2 Red Onion
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1 Roasted Pepper
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
  • 1 tsp Dried Italian Herbs
  • 1/2 Tsp Paprika
  • Pinch of Mustard Powder
  • Pinch Chilli Powder
  • Pinch Turmeric
  • Salt and Pepper



  1. Start by peeling and dicing the onion and garlic. Cut the tomato into chunks.
  2. Cook the onion, garlic and tomato in a pan until the tomatoes have broken down and have released all the juice.
  3. Once cooked add all the remaining ingredients, apart from the gnocchi, to a food processor and blend until smooth.
  4. Cook the gnocchi according to packet instructions, drain and add to the sauce.
  5. Serve and enjoy
